The Ironmaster’s Mansion and accompanying buildings are located on the grounds of the Pine Grove Furnace State Park. The park spans 696 acres and lies on South Mountain and is surrounded by Michaux State Forest. Pine Grove Furnace was built during the Revolutionary War and one of its first operators was Michael Ege; his son, Peter built the mansion and subsequently inherited Pine Grove Furnace. The mansion was built between 1827 & 1829 of bricks manufactured on site. The English Tudor design was inspired by Peter Ege’s British wife. The mansion also serves as a hostel for overnight guests.
