Interiorly, the heavy 12 foot wooden doors will open to reveal a Great Hall with 30 foot ceilings, solid stone walls and elegant, massive chandeliers. Behind will be a beautifully appointed reading library and receiving area. Next to the library, an enormous dining room which can seat 40+ guests in “medieval-like” splendor. Adjacent to the dining room will be a sizeable and fully equipped gourmet kitchen, a sun-lit breakfast room and both a butler’s pantry and maid’s quarters, as well as an Estate office. To the right of the Great Hall will be a barrel-vaulted ballroom, replete with a gigantic wood burning fireplace, authentic-to-the-period chandeliers, and mirrors which will reflect dancers and musicians. The ballroom walls will feature hand-done wall artistry which will depict scenes of the Central Kentucky countryside. To the rear of the ballroom will be an elegant music room with both a grand piano and a lyric harp, a game parlor designed with features such as a giant plasma TV with satellite, a slate pool table, card tables and luxury leather seating. Also on the first level, an expansive artist’s studio bathed in northern exposure light. At the rear of the Great Hall, a massive staircase will lead to second floor guest suites, each featuring a sitting room with panoramic windows, an oversized bathroom and a spacious bedroom “fit for royalty”. Roof top level amenities include a sundeck with shuffle board. The four corners of the Castle walls are currently punctuated with an authentic turret. Each contains a bedroom on the second floor, perfect for a honeymoon or anniversary suite. Castle owner Tom Post is a graduate of Lexington’s Lafayette High School who subsequently received both his B.S. in Mathematics and his law degree from the University of Kentucky. Twice each year, Post will consider leasing out the entire facility, with its spectacular views of the countryside and its proximity to Keeneland Race Course, to discriminating individuals seeking unique overnight accommodations. At other times during the year, the Castle may be rented to guests wishing to enjoy sophisticated lodging in a true medieval setting.
