Washington, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, 20019 US / DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
The former Sixth District Police Station in NE is now home to the DC Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement, an umbrella agency comprising employment, youth and rehabilitation oriented District agencies, non-profits and local community organizations to provide immediate wrap-around services to victims and families affected by violent crime. Currently being transformed in stages, there are many areas of the former police station that remain as they were originally built. Some areas have had a 'face-lift' of new paint or carpeting, and some have been completely renovated in to conference room or office space. The Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment has partnered with the Department of General Services (DC's real estate agency) to provide access to this property to filmmakers free of charge, provided the production will work within the guidelines that this is still an active government agency and its operations shall not be substantially disrupted. A signed Location Agreement will be required two weeks prior to the start of filming. The transformation is exciting one for filmmaker looking for a 'cop shop' complete with cell blocks, sally port, interview rooms, cubicle desks outfitted with phones and standard desk props, locker/changing rooms, and more. The station is located in the Benning neighborhood of DC, blocks from the Benning Road Metro Station, and has its own off-street parking lot (spaces limited).
