Sutton Forest, NSW, 2577 AU / NSW
Hillview is a vast country estate set in the rural Southern Tablelands. It is open to the public as a heritage hotel, with many of the original pieces of furniture adorning the eight double suites, lounge and bathrooms. Built between 1875 and 1900, the government-owned property is the former country home of the governors of NSW. The manor is set atop a hill overlooking the grassy countryside, and is complemented by a number of cottages and cabins. The furnishings of the estate have remained largely untouched since the 1950’s when the last governor departed and the property was sold, providing a window into the ways of life, taste and decoration of the 1880 period through to the 1950 period. This Southern Highlands property is Heritage listed. Sutton Forest is approximately two hours from Sydney CBD.
