WDET 101.9 FM (c. 1949) has been owned and operated by Wayne State University in Detroit since 1952.
WDET is non-commercial public radio broadcasting from 11-story University Tower on the WSU campus in the Cass Corridor. 550ft broadcasting tower sends out 48,000 watts of high-quality locally relevant programming.
WDET is a public telecommunications entity licensed to WSU by the FCC and has a regular donor file of some 12,000 people.
The radio station occupies the first floor of University Tower and is comprised of three studios, news studio, MCR (Master Control Room), Studio B and a huge band studio where musical groups assemble.
The rest of the building is University Tower residence hall dormitory.
