The Piedmont Medical Center Trail, located in the Riverwalk community, offers scenic views of the Catawba River and is a great location for outdoor activities. The trail is 10 ft. wide, and it is 2.5 miles long and connects to Cherry Road/Hwy 21 at it's north end. To the south, at the Norfolk Southern Railroad trestle, a trail connector ties the trail into the trail system at River Park, allowing additional distance and beautiful scenery. From Hwy 21 at Riverwalk all the way to the lower parking lot of River Park, the total mileage along the river is 3.35 miles.
The trail features flat areas as well as uphill and downhill stretches with steep grades. Along the trail are benches, garbage cans, pet stations, and bridges. Restrooms are located at the parking lots at Riverwalk and River Park. The trail is located in a flood plain and is subject to flooding. Use caution during and after periods of heavy precipitation.
