The IX Ranch is a cow/calf operation located in and around the Bear Paw Mountain range in North Central Montana. We operate 3,500 mother cows on 136,000 acres of rolling hills, timbered mountains and Missouri river breaks country.
The IX Ranch is a 3rd generation family owned corporation in the state of Montana located just 3 miles south of Big Sandy. The ranch spans from Big Sandy about 45 miles SE. We have everything from rolling hills to mountains (not the Rockies) and river breaks. We have all types of wildlife with the exception of bears and wolves. This allows for some wonderful elk, deer, antelope, and upland game birds. The guest house can accommodate up to 10 people and has a full kitchen. Big Sandy has a small motel as well as grocery store, post office, hospital, bank and two eating establishments/bars. Local catering is available, as well as additional accommodations for up to 15 or more crew nearby. The main ranch is located 20 miles SE of Big Sandy on about 17 miles of gravel roads. They are county roads and passable nearly year round.
