The Biltmore Hotel has always been at the center of Miami's social and cultural history. Built in 1926 in the grand Mediterranean Revival style, the hotel boasts a lobby with a 45-foot handpainted ceiling, stone colonnades and fine craftsmanship. Its 315-foot tower, modeled after the Giralda bell tower in Seville, rises above the city of Coral Gables. The Biltmore's impressive scale extends even to its swimming pool, which holds more than 700,000 gallons of water and is the largest hotel pool in the continental U.S. A frequent backdrop for movies, fashion spreads and video shoots, it has become a singular image of South Florida elegance. Encircling the pool are languid private cabanas are set amongst and lush landscaping of Canary palms, bougainvillea and hibiscus. The pool's one-time diving platform has been converted to a multi tier waterfall. The 23,000 sq. ft. pool continues to delight hotel guests and visitors alike.
