Location Description

The Historic Phillips Forest Products Sawmill is the oldest family owned sawmill in the state of Texas. It's located on a clay hill between Avery and De kalb TX. The grounds consist of machinery designed and built in the early 1900's installed in 1958 when Cecil Phillips opened the mill. The site consist of log piles, stacks of lumber, burn piles, sawdust piles, old trucks for moving logs, and other industrial equipment. There are multiple buildings, some metal, some wood and all contain industrial machinery or wood. There are two wooden offices with relics from before 1958, all well preserved, to add authenticity of another time. In addition, there are three old wooden outhouses on site and burn barrels to keep warm in winter.
