**No availability during hurricane season June through late Oct / early Nov. No student films or low/no budget indie projects** Facility opened 1937. Closed in March, 2022 -- no inmates are onsite. Architecture style is reported as a mix of Art Deco and Classic Modern. Several outbuildings including a gymnasium and a chapel. Cellblocks with single cells, as well as 3-level units. Other features include multiple wings / watchtowers / prison yards, and an in-house courtroom on premises. There is no kitchen or dining hall (other than a small staff dining area). The gymnasium could potentially accommodate a build-out, but it could not be permanent. THE LONGEST YARD (1974) starring Burt Reynolds, and Eddie Albert was filmed here.
