Location Description

Built in 1843, this building is the third courthouse in the county seat of Lewistown. The courtroom has seen many meetings and public spectacles including a speech by Susan B Anthony. The entire building was renovated in 2003 from new electrical systems to paint schemes that approximate the original 19th century décor. The Soldiers’ and Sailor’s Monument, a 64.5’ granite column recognizing each branch of the military at the turn of the 20th century is located in a grassy area in front of the building. Also located to the left of the courthouse is a 1929 Art Deco building built as a department store and is now offices.
