The Groundlings is an improvisation and sketch comedy theatre that has been entertaining LA audiences for over 50 years. The Groundlings is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded by Gary Austin in 1974. A “Groundling” is one of the 30 company members who write and perform in the theatre’s shows and teach classes at The Groundlings School. Our school has been the foremost comedy training ground in Hollywood and the springboard for countless careers.
Theatre (7307 Melrose Avenue) with stage, spotlight, curtains, proscenium arch, lobby and staircase; 50-100 seating capacity. School (7280 Melrose Avenue) with 50 seat stage and 1 classroom downstairs, plus 4 classrooms upstairs. Elevator, 2 stairwells and a back parking lot.
