Location Description

The courthouse building was built in 1856 with some later additions. Pressed tin ceilings and some original lighting fixtures, iron vaults, and hardware still grace the interior. During the Civil War, Belle Boyd was held here after her arrest as a Confederate spy. Northern soldiers used the building for months during the Civil War. It continues to serve as the seat of the county government.
