Location Description

Located in the historic district of Franklin, the old jail offers a glimpse of pioneer justice. There is a small museum featuring three Confederate generals depicted in graffiti drawn on the wall by prisoners awaiting trial; extensive county and area genealogical, death, burial, marriage,and other court records. The archive has a number of materials from surrounding states that have ties to Simpson County and help to make the Old Jail an outstanding genealogical research center.
