Dating back to early 1800s,Tremont Nail Factory is a complex of historic buildings registered in the national historical register. Nails were produced starting in1819, and the complex hasn't changed much since 1848. Nail production ceased in 2006. All historic buildings are currently empty, and owned by the town of Wareham. In 1976 a modern steel building was added on the west edge of the site, which is currently in use. The complex sits at the head of the Wareham River and the south end of Parker Mills Pond. There are 8 total buildings, the original office building, 4 factory buildings, 2 smaller shed buildings, and the modern steel building. The site is 312Ksqft (7.16acres). All but the steel building have been uninhabited since 2006, and are currently being evaluated for restoration.
