Garden Island, 164km north of Townsville, is a small tropical island, sheltered by the Great Barrier Reef and two larger islands. The island is a pristine oasis covered in dense tropical forests, boulders and wide sandy beaches. The island is home to a campsite and nature trails/boardwalks however the campsite has no amenities. Spectacular mountainous coastal bay and island views can be seen from the all sides of the island and from the stretch of a tidal sandy spit. Access to the island is by private boat charter from mainland coastal town of Cardwell. Located approximately 1582 (983 miles / 18 hrs 20 mins) from Village Roadshow Studios. The nearest airport is Townsville Airport (TVS) approx- 2 hour flight from Brisbane (BNE) or Gold Coast, Coolangatta (OOL) airports. The closest POH, Gold Coast City, 1520km (945 miles / 17 hrs 45 mins) away.
