An iconic Bristol Landmark, designed by the famous engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel in 1831 and completed after his death in 1864. The bridge operates as a commuter route for motor traffic and pedestrians and period-symapthetic moden toll houses installed, alongside a Visitor Centre. The bridge spans the Avon Gorge at 78m above high tide and has views of the city of Bristol as well as the ancient woodland of Leigh Woods. The river Avon below is tidal and changes height by 13m twice daily.
