Ellwood Manor

Location Description
This is a Georgian-style home, built in 1790 by William Jones. During the Civil War, Confederate forces used Ellwood as a headquarters and hospital after the Battle of Chancellorsville in 1863. Chaplain Beverly Tucker Lacy buried Confederate General Stonewall Jackson’s arm in the family cemetery. Ellwood Manor was also eventually used by the Union as well. Once, as General Gouverneur K. Warren’s headquarters and then as a hospital during the Union’s successful drive to Richmond. The manor is now a part of the National Park Service.
