Bear Creek Ranch was built at it's present location in 1933 on the old home site of McCarthyville, a temporary rough and tumble railroad town. The ranch was originally developed to host summer guests and fall hunters. Back in the day, Highway 2 was still a dirt road through the mountains, connecting the east and west sides of the Rockies. Over a period of time and, certainly, with the increased visibility and popularity of Glacier National Park, Bear Creek Ranch began to attract diverse clientele.
