The Southside landmark showcases its $2.3 million facelift, which began in February 2012 and was completed in April 2013. The Mission Marquee Plaza is now managed by the Department for Culture & Creative Development (DCCD). Restroom facilities have been added and concrete parking lot is now a grassy picnic area. Screenings will still be held on the big screen but no cars will be allowed. Other renovations include a 1,700-square-foot stage, a new parking lot, and new LED lighting to showcase the marquee, replacing the dated, neon-tubed lighting.
