Location Description

What began as Camp Crawford in 1849 has evolved into Laredo College, a premier institution of higher education for Laredo and South Texas. As students walk through the halls toward their classes, they walk the same steps as those who defended Laredo’s frontier. Embedded with both stone and stories of those that came before us, LC staff and students find these stories around every corner of this historic campus. Our historic flagship buildings include the Commander’s Home, the Pvt. David B. Barkley Cantu Memorial Chapel, the Ft. McIntosh Cemetery, and the former barracks, now known as the Domingo Arechiga Hall. Built on a foundation of sacrifice and heroism, many of the college’s buildings stand as monuments that remind us about the rich history of Laredo and the South Texas region.
