The original home on this site was built about 1912 for Mr. and Mrs. Robert Estes Kennington. The large residence, which faced west toward Kenwood Place, reportedly had beautiful grounds with greenhouses, barns and stables, a nine hole golf course, and a lake. In the late 1930's the Yazoo clay beneath the house caused the foundation to shift and the house was razed. Using most of the building materials and structural details from the original house, the Kenningtons built on the property two homes for their families. This spacious red brick Greek Revival house features an impressive classical portico supported by four massive Ionic columns. The house has been given by the Reimers family to the First Presbyterian Church reserving life tenancy for the present owners.
