The Golden Plough Tavern built in 1741 serves as an historic example of the key role played by taverns in Colonial life. In addition to operating as restaurants & hotels they were the site to learn & convey all significant news. The attached (General) Gates House built c. 1751 also serves as a fine example of Colonial era architecture.
