Location Description

Film-friendly antique/thrift store located on the first floor of a historic brick building built in the late 1800's. Built by/for Fred J. Dyer, it is not listed as a landmark but there is a lot of history that surrounds the building. Originally a grocer, it has had numerous incarnations over the years from offices, furniture store, and even apartments and a pizza shop. One of the photos depicts a faint impression of the original grocery store & there is at least one historic picture of the building hanging at the store. The building was constructed of brick with a tar sheet roof (I think). There are 2 floors plus the basement. The first floor houses our store and has for the last 6 years. It's the more modern looking of the floors. It has various types of flooring throughout but is mostly comprised of varied woods. There is a drop ceiling and we have large ceiling mount natural gas heaters throughout the first floor. The 2nd floor is gutted and just bare bones rustic with a little bit of framing the previous owner started but never finished. It has wood floors, slat ceilings & measures approximately 10, 000 square feet. The basement has a cement floor and there are big concrete pillars with an overall open look to it. (Per the building appraiser: the support system that was used to build the building is not one you see anymore). There is a fireplace on the upper two floors and what looks like a fire pit in the basement under the fireplaces upstairs. In addition, the shop with its myriad & unique stock may be the place to search for props. Items range from vintage clothing to WWII surgical thread.
