Burbank Livingston Griggs Mansion is a three-story gray limestone mansion located in Cathedral Hill and perched high on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River Valley and the city skyline. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this is one of the finest examples of mid-nineteenth century Italianate architecture in Minnesota. It was originally designed for wealthy businessman James C. Burbank, but has since been converted to three separate units with sizes from 1,000 – 4,400 square feet. The house is 8,000 square feet and is situated on 1.28 acres. The mansion includes eighteenth century boiseries shipped from Italy and France and installed in eight major rooms, nine fireplaces, marble floors, imported antique parquet floors, a ballroom, lavish baths, rock crystal chandeliers, a tupelo, and a grand staircase.
