Location Description

Our historic courthouse is a unique old stone building, built in 1804. It has three floors, a total of over 16,000 square feet. It was built in 1931 there were some updates to the courtroom in the late 60's. The main floor has the county judge's office, the sheriff's office and the county clerk's office. The basement still has jail cells, although it is for short holding times only now. The top floor is for the courtroom, the jury room, and there are conference rooms. It is very spacious, probably about 2500 square feet. There are no elevators.
