The Department of Communities and Justice runs a training facility at the heritage-listed Yasmar site in Haberfield. The Yasmar Training Facility is located at 185 Parramatta Road, Haberfield, and is within the grounds of the heritage-listed Ramsay Estate and is available for venue hire. It has four training rooms that can accommodate groups between 10 and 60 people depending on room configuration and prevailing covid restrictions. The generous kitchen and outdoor seating area provides for relaxing breaks and, together with the basketball court, ping pong table and enormous grassed area, there is plenty of space and opportunity for team building and fun. Alternatively, it is just a short stroll from Haberfield’s main street which has many cafes, restaurants and patisseries. The site has also retained the Youth Justice Detention Centre buildings which are used for custodial training programs. These buildings are also available for hire and have been used by many popular television series requiring law enforcement and correctional facility scenes. The detention centre opened in 1946 as a remand home for boys and closed in 1994. 185 Parramatta Road, Haberfield, NSW, 2045 (entrance from Chandos Street)
