Location Description
We love to sip our coffee (or wine) on the deck, enjoying the breathtaking view of the Northumberland Strait, watching the PEI ferry going back and forth throughout the day from Wood Islands, PEI to Caribou, NS (just 10 minutes up the road). Moonshell is our cottage and haven of peace, where we spend as much time as possible from May until November. Situated on a one acre landscaped lot overlooking the water, regardless of whether you are planting in one of the multiple garden boxes, reading in a hammock under a tree or simply sitting quietly enjoying the view, Moonshell is known and loved for its serenity and beauty. It is an attractive cedar bungalow with two bedrooms, a large vestibule which doubles as another bedroom, a bathroom, living room with a woodstove, kitchen and sunroom with plenty of windows to take in the gorgeous views. There is an unfinished, insulated basement that we use for storage, laundry and for playing pingpong and darts on rainy days. There are a few other cottages on Sam's Point Road and there is ample parking on the private road in front of Moonshell. Moonshell overlooks a beach where we love to swim in the warmest waters north of the Carolinas, followed by a refreshing rinse in the outdoor shower. We also enjoy taking long walks up the beach to Caribou Island, collecting sea glass on the way.
