Tamar Island is a conservation area in the River Tamar north of Launceston. The area is managed by the Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service. The island is reached by a 1.5 km boardwalk over mudflats and water which are inhabited by waterfowl and wading birds. Tamar Island itself is 7 hectares and has a variety of native and European trees.
