The MacDonnell Ranges, or Tjoritja in Arrernte, is a mountain range and an interim Australian bioregion located in southern Northern Territory and has an area of 3,929,444 hectares. West MacDonnell national park is a vast and spectacular section of the MacDonnell Ranges and a example of an ancient landscape sculptured over time by the climatic elements; stretching 161 km due west of Alice Springs.
