Bodmin Jail, one of Cornwall’s most-loved historical attractions and former County Gaol, was built in 1779. The impressive stone building, which closed its doors as a jail in 1929, retains many original features and prison cells, as well as the original hanging pit. Bodmin Jail is currently in the middle of a £40 million redevelopment project that is set to restore this important heritage asset to its former glory.
